Language.Exchange

Hello!

I'm primarily interested in learning new languages as a way to contact with other cultures, traditions and ways of thinking, since I won't be travelling to any countries soon. It would also be nice to be able to read and understand foreign languages!

I have often felt attracted to the Chinese language and its characters, and some aspects of old East Asia culture (I can't quite figure out what those aspects are, but... it still has some degree of alluring mystery and wisdom here, in the old West). I would especially like to learn Taiwanese - as I feel it preserved its culture and tradition best.

I would also be interested in learning Thai. A language and a country that I know so little about, and I would like to know more! It being so different to what I'm used to just draws me further in, with a mix of East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures that I find very interesting.

I can speak and write both Portuguese (the harsher European Portuguese, not the mellower Brazilian Portuguese) and English with near-native levels of fluency. If you are interested in those languages, I can definitely lend a hand!

I like talking about pretty much anything, as long as the discussion is honest and pleasant. Particularly, I like philosophy and just thinking about things. I don't follow much of today's media, but I read books and play video games - currently, I've been binging on the horror genre.
