I'm a journalist, linguist and environmentalist from Cape Town, South Africa, trying to learn Spanish. We don't have many native Spanish speakers here! I became interested in learning Spanish when travelling in Mexico, South America and Spain. Also, I often visit the United States where I have two nephews who are learning Spanish. South African English is similar to British English; I have family and friends in the UK as well as the USA, so I'm familiar with all the variations. In fact, part of my work is "translating" American into South African English and British English. I also speak Afrikaans (it's like the child of English and Dutch).
