About Me
Hi! Iโm Anthony from Michigan, USA. I first moved to Asia in the late 1990s and spent many years living in Taiwan, which still feels like a second home to me. I truly value Asian culture and the friendships Iโve made there over the years.
I will be traveling to Asia this August, including Taiwan and Vietnam, and Iโm excited to reconnect and improve my Chinese โ and start learning Vietnamese as well.
What I Do
Iโm an entrepreneur and small business owner. I work in commercial real estate and also as a professional laser technician, running a laser clinic in the United States.
I enjoy real conversations about business, culture, travel, art, and everyday life โ not textbook topics, but meaningful exchanges.

Why Language Exchange?
Iโm looking not only for language practice, but also to build a genuine friendship with someone in Asia. I travel there regularly and hope to continue visiting often in the future. It would be wonderful to have a good friend I can meet for coffee, night markets, walks, or simple conversation whenever I visit.

Primarily learning Japanese at the moment. Have already learned German and a year of Chinese. Having spent a while hitchhiking around the world, I've picked up lots of minor elements used by various languages & dialects, but despite my interest in linguistics, I was more focused on learning about cultural aspects & anthropological aspects.
Hobbies like blacksmithing, martial arts, tech, linguistics, and whatever else my ADHD is drawn to create a highly diverse & frequently expanding interest range. Main takeaway is that I'm pretty good at getting along with/Talking about most things.
Won't say I'm someone with any notable academically certified knowledge level, but can say that throughout my travels & time spent worldwide, I was never presented a situation where I was unable to form connections or learn cultural or more personal traditions, even without verbal or "traditional" communication methods.

I am a college student currently studying cybersecurity. My hobbies include tennis, gaming, math, and now learning languages :) Right now I only fluently speak English but I have taken some German classes and look to expand my learning here. I want to learn as many languages as my brain can hold, preferably the next two I learn will be Spanish and Japanese. I can nerd out with you about Star Wars and Marvel and I'm just now getting into anime. Looking forward to meeting plenty of new language learners!
